Artist Bio
Drew Lavell Kirby was 3 years old when he picked up his first crayon and started to draw. So it came as no surprise when he asked to have an art show for his 10th birthday to display the work he’s been doing for the last 7 years. Like most boys his age, Drew is outgoing, energetic, funny and loves to play video games. But something very mysterious happens to Drew when his muse awakens his kinetic energy to create art. Inspired by his father to draw at a young age, Drew re-creates the characters from his favorite movies. His first oNE bOY sHOW, exhibits 32 of his favorite characters both fictional and real that were created between the ages of 3 and 9. He is a student at Bach Martin Elementary School, and attends the Young Rembrandt’s Art Program, Summer Art Camps at Wissinoming and Parkside Evans with the Philadelphia Recreation Department. He recently joined the Mural Arts Program of Philadelphia where he is being mentored by renowned artist across the city. Using pencil as his primary medium, he also experiments with watercolor, crayon, marker, oil, and etchings while in art classes. Photography is another creative outlet Drew shows interest and shoots whenever given the opportunity for self expression in structured programs and with his grandmother Nona. Our family is especially proud of Drew's recent interest to inspire other children to draw. He gave away art inspired gifts to all his friends at his recent artshow and plan to donate a portion of the money he makes from future art sales for kids to purchase art supplies.
Drew's art inspired merchandise and artwork is for sale at Westside Framing Studios. Please contact for questions via email: rkirby236@gmail.com/phone: 215-514-4244. Renee Kirby
